Open Letter to the Mothers of Gaza

Dear Sister,

As a mother, I cannot begin to imagine the level of pain that you go through daily. From the trauma of being displaced from your home in October to fleeing to unknown places while trying your best to keep your family safe, from afar, we could only send our most fervent prayers to you and yours. As we witnessed, day in, day out your losses and your courage, we feel so helpless and yet you remain an example for us.

We see you sometimes already shrouded and your kids surrounding you, with their little hearts broken. We could only shudder when we think of the pain you were going through when giving birth without anesthesia or having to watch your baby being snatched of life through the cruel shutting off of incubators.  We could only imagine your trembling hands while writing the name of your children on their arms lest they should be killed. And yet… we see how you have taught your children so well that their tawakkul remains unshaken despite the calamities that befall them.

Since the beginning of the genocide, we have read and seen how you cradle your babies in your arms, how you are in shock in front of the martyred bodies of your children, husband and other family members. And yet, you have the resilience and the imaan that we cannot but be in awe of. Your absolute faith in Allah and his decree makes us hide in shame for despite enjoying the luxuries that Allah has bestowed upon us, many of us do not have your level of imaan, which is why we take your example in our duahs and ask Allah to grant us your level of faith. We continue praying for you.
